Abstract

The article covers material related to the assemblage technique. The evolution and influence of sculptural relief on the creation of assemblage are considered. The theoretical approaches of notable authors, such as K. Schwitters, M. Ernst, L. Hirschman, D. Cornell are analyzed. The assemblage is described as an expression of creative potential in modern visual art, which is inseparably connected with sculptural relief. The problem of the right to the existence of assemblage as a separate art form in sculpture is discussed. Various manifestations of assemblage as an independent and additional form of visual art are traced. Manifestations of this technique in: sculptural relief, panel, bas-relief and facade are studied. A comparison is made between assemblage and relief as two technical means. Using illustrative material, examples are provided, demonstrating how elements of the assemblage technique can be borrowed and transformed into a classical sculptural composition. Research methods: exploratory – finding materials for further art analysis of the above-mentioned topic, systematic – to determine the influence of artistic techniques on modern trends in visual art, analytical – to determine the interaction of technical features of the performance of a sculptural product. The scientific novelty lies in comparing two separate art forms and their interaction. The influence of assemblage on contemporary trends in sculptural relief and sculpture as a whole is defined. Conclusions: Assemblage, as a separate form of sculptural relief, proves to be an effective means of expressing individuality and technical mastery of artists. These creative approaches expand the possibilities of visual art and provide distinctive features to sculptural relief in the context of assemblage.
