THE CREATIVITY OF THE ARTIST OF THE BARANIVSKY AND KOROSTEN PLANTS VARTAN NARIKIAN ACCORDING TO ARCHIVE SOURCES

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to reveal the milestones of the life and stages of the creative activity of the outstanding Ukrainian porcelain artist Vartan Mikhranovych Narikyan, taking into account his fruitful activity in the 1930s – 1960s, known for the materials of museum collections and assortment cabinets of the Baraniv Porcelain Factory and the Korosten Porcelain Factory, as well as data from the Art Councils of VIAlegprom and archival materials from Kyiv. The main idea of the study boils down to the unique creative handwriting of the master, who was distinguished by a high culture of performance and a specific “jewelry” filigree and perfection of finished ideas and their implementation. The research toolkit will be based on a set of principles, approaches and methods. In particular, it will be based on the principle of scientific reliability and the chronological principle, art history, design and production approaches; will be based on ontological, hermeneutic, axiological, historical-genetic, historical-comparative, cultural, socio-cultural, methods of regionalism, microhistory, typology methods, formal-stylistic and art analysis methods. Among the significant tasks of the research, the need to outline the essence of the creative method of V. is singled out. Lamented in the field of domestic industrial art, the need to determine the circle of known works of the specified author and to fully include his name in the list of the best specialists of Ukrainian porcelainfaience of the 20th century, whose name is associated with the best examples of unique author’s works, some of which went into serial and mass production in the second third of the 20th century. The data on the completion of the master at two key style-creating enterprises in the field of fine ceramics of Ukraine during the rapid development of artistic technologies in the 1930s – 1960s are given. The most valuable, iconic works of the author are visualized. The non-ideological nature of his activity was revealed, which affected the lack of state awards and distinctions, despite the «aristocracy» of his works and a certain perfection of each service design project, in which the hand of a skillful craftsman with a taste of knowledge of the world’s most expensive porcelain design techniques was felt.
