THERAPEUTIC LANDSCAPES IN THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT DESIGN: DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN EXPERIENCE

Abstract

The article deals with the concept of therapeutic landscapes and features of their design. When creating functional and aesthetically attractive green areas in the design of the urban environment, new trends appear, which are associated with the awareness of the therapeutic effect of the environment on a person. The significant role of the therapeutic landscape in the context of new tasks faced by environment design in wartime conditions has been clarified. The analysis of examples of the implementation of therapeutic landscapes by domestic and foreign specialists from the point of view of the introduction of promising rehabilitation technologies has been carried out, and their significant potential in working with different categories of the population has been emphasized. In the process of planning a therapeutic urban space, the diverse needs of potential visitors are taken into account in order to ensure its inclusivity. Designing therapeutic landscapes involves not only taking into account the requirements for functional and technical characteristics, but also ensuring the emotional component of the space. In the process of their activity, designers choose exactly the means that contribute to the creation of such an image of the environment, which is memorized on the basis of the emotions and experiences of a person, and contributes to the improvement of their psycho-emotional state. The use of sensory characteristics of plants and materials is increasingly popular. Thus, the idea of sensory gardens today provides a valuable resource for a diverse range of applications and creates a wide field of activity for designers. The most common approach to the cultivation of a sensory garden is creating a large number of zones on its territory, thematically diverse and aimed at specific senses. The research also highlights the ecological component of therapeutic landscapes, which is particularly relevant at the current stage of the development of the urban environment. It is extremely important to find and implement new design solutions for the creation of green areas, taking into account modern requirements for the quality of the urban environment in the context of its sustainable development.
