DEVELOPMENT OF THE IMAGE OF A UKRAINIAN GIRL WHILE CREATING DIGITAL ILLUSTRATIONS FOR A 12-MONTH FLIP WALL CALENDAR

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the role of ethnic style in the development of Ukrainian design in the conditions of modern social transformations, social challenges and threats. We affirm the value of taking into account the requirements of the Ukrainian national-cultural tradition and the achievements of the rich national culture and artistic heritage when implementing design developments, in particular, as a source for the form-creative ideas of a graphic designer. It should also be noted that preserving the national and cultural identity of Ukrainians, as the dominant nation of our state, requires the consolidated efforts of representatives of various creative specialties, including cultural scientists, artists and designers. The aesthetic consciousness of young designers is significantly stimulated by the development of their aesthetic and artistic tastes, ideals or views; and stimulating of their creativity is may be too. This is significantly stimulated to develop of young designers through a thorough study of the national artistic heritage. And this helps them to carry out a creative search and contributes to the emergence of new interesting design developments or artistic projects, and also helps to increase the competitiveness of domestic manufacturers. We have created, on the basis of digital painting, 13 illustrations of female figures as the young Ukrainian women in the national clothing, for a 12-month flip wall calendar “Native Ukraine”. The creation of these illustrations is based on a detailed analysis of the Ukrainian national clothing and feminine colors of different regions of Ukraine (the period of the 19th century – the beginning of the 20th century). The search for formative ideas for illustrating the calendar was developed not only through the selection of ethnographic materials, but also on the basis of paintings by famous Ukrainian artists. This made it possible to capture the characteristic elements of the dress in different seasons of year, as well as the popular embellishments of Ukrainian girls. Based on this, a creative idea was developed during the calendar design. The basis for the creation of stylized images of characters and background illustrations for the flip calendar and its cover were ideas about the four seasons, the Ukrainian woman as the guardian of family and family values, the importance of a variety of decorative elements as an "escape from monotony" in the clothes and jewelry of Ukrainian girls.
