CREATIVITY OF THE ART OF PETRYKIV PAINTING BY MARINA MALYARENKO IN THE UKRAINIAN DIASPORA

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to present and analyze the work of Maryna Malyarenko, who specializes in Petrykiv painting, in the Ukrainian diaspora. The article examines her technique, style, main themes of her works and contribution to the development of Ukrainian national art in the context of the diaspora. In particular, among the favorite subjects in the works of Maryna Malyarenko, you can see traditional, for Petrykiv painting, images of fairytale and ordinary flowers, such as cornflowers, poppies, the Tree of Life, viburnum, birds, firebirds, nightingales, etc. The general image of the works is complemented by modern symbols – images of animals, bugs, vegetables and fruits. A special place in the artist’s work is occupied by images of numerous butterflies and mushrooms, as well as the coat of arms of Ukraine, which she incorporates into various compositions and stylizes to her taste. The article states that the artist likes to experiment with color and shapes, so in her work she often uses blue, purple and deep pink shades of paint along with the traditional yellow-and-red colors for "petrikivka". The article indicates the importance of promoting Ukrainian culture abroad and will tell about how Maryna Malyarenko’s work fits into this context. In the conclusion of the article, it is noted about the importance of researching artists of the diaspora, in particular Maryna Malyarenko, because speaking about Ukrainian art and its recognition in the world, we draw the attention of the world society to Ukraine and to the events taking place in it.
