The purpose of the article is to outline the role of works of Chinese traditional painting integrated into the interior space of the residences of the Qing dynasty. The research was conducted within the framework of the theme "Synthesis of traditional Chinese landscape painting and design of the subject-spatial environment". Based on the methods used in the process of researching works of art (visual, iconographic, documentary, technological and stylistic), the artisticdecorative, symbolic and cultural-communicative functions of the works of art of Chinese painting in the living rooms of Qing dynasty residences were determined. Due to the theme, origin and level of skill of artistic works, residents could demonstrate their social status and emotional feelings. The Chinese art of painting, with its intense formal beauty and profound philosophical thought, when applied to residential living rooms, enhances the artistic ambience of the environment, providing a means for aesthetic enjoyment and promoting the development of aesthetic skills. The art of painting in these spaces also acts as a crucial means of ethical and moral education and inheritance of family culture, contributing to the transmission of values, cultural traditions and family principles among family members. The multi-functionality of Chinese painting art in the living rooms of Qing Dynasty residences essentially reflects the consolidation of social culture and the family system of the Qing Dynasty, revealing China's unique cultural regime. The publication highlights the role of outstanding Chinese theoreticians and painters during the Qing dynasty: Zhen Bonyan, Ding Guanpeng, Hong Liangzi, Zheng Banqiao, Ming Zhen, Gao Fenghan, Wu Changshu, Wei Yuan, Zhou Xiang. The function of cultural transmission of the art of Chinese painting in the residential halls of Qing dynasty residences is realized thanks to the symbolism of painting, symbolizing the social status and position of the residents, as a means of improving their emotional aspirations and aesthetic abilities. The artistic functions of Chinese painting in the living rooms of the Qing dynasty are characterized, which is considered as an educational tool for ethics and morality.
